He is a program-specific research center associate professor at Institute for Integrate Cell-Material Sciences (WPI-iCeMS), Kyoto University. His research interests are recapitulating living systems into a micro-chip for contributing global healthcare as well as wildlife conservation, named “Body on a Chip”. In particular, my research approach is based on a new methodological development that integrates micro/nanotechnology, materials science, stem cell biology, and imaging technology to create artificial cellular microenvironments for understanding the basic mechanisms regulating stem cell functions.
